 A delegation of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) called on the Federal Finance Minister Mr. Mohammad Ishaq Dar today at FBR Headquarters in Islamabad. Federal Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif also joined the meeting on special request.

 

The delegation comprised Malik Abdul Ghafoor President SCCI, Khawaja Masood Chairman Sialkot International Airport. and other senior members of SCCI and trade associations.

The Finance Minister was accompanied by Mr. Tariq Bajwa, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Finance, Mr. Tariq Mehmood Pasha, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Revenue, Mr. Ashfaq Tola Chairman Reforms and Resource Mobilization Commission (RRMC), Mr. Asim Ahmad Chairman Federal Board of Revenue, and other senior officers from the Finance Ministry and Revenue Division.

 

During the meeting, the overall economic situation of the country came under discussion. The Defence Minister highlighted the contributions of Sialkot's business community and their self-help model which established projects like Sialkot Airport and Sambrial dry port. The Finance Minister appreciated the vibrant business community of the city and asserted that the Government is making all out efforts to put the country on the path to progress and prosperity.

The delegation highlighted that the industrial triangle comprising Sialkot, Gujrat and Gujranwala is producing a variety of products for local and export markets. Sialkot is a major foreign exchange earner for the country. They submitted their proposals for consideration in the upcoming Federal Budget and reassured the Finance Minister that they would remain committed to the economic progress of the country.

The Minister welcomed the proposals and assured the participants that export promotion is priority of the government and all possible cooperation and support will be extended to the business community.
