TRAINING WORKSHOP ON "UNDERSTANDING STEEL INDUSTRY IN PAKISTAN" 21st MAY, 2013.

Federal Board of Revenue is doing its utmost to strengthen the public private partnership by facilitating a number of training seminars and workshops to educate the private sector in enhancing the trade activities in Pakistan.

In this connection, a training workshop on “Understanding Steel Industry in Pakistan“ was organized by the Directorate General of Training and Research (Customs), Karachi on 21st May, 2013 which was attended by a number of officers and official of different field formations of Pakistan Customs Service and representatives of Private sector as well.
The Chief Collector of Customs Appraisement-South Mr. Muhammad Yahya inaugurated the seminar. Mrs. Rubina Wasti Director, DGTR (Customs), Karachi welcomed all the distinguished guests.
The Chief Executive Officer of Amreli Steels made a comprehensive presentation regarding the issues related to the steel industry in Pakistan. Amreli Steels is one of the largest manufacturers of steel reinforcement bars in Pakistan. His input regarding the steel industry issues with Pakistan Customs helped understanding the ambiguities of steel related clearance by Pakistan Customs and cleared a way in streamlining difficult procedures which suffered the steel industry and resulted in huge revenue loss to the government. Mr. Saeed Akram, Additional Director also made a well prepared and informative presentation which was very appreciated by the audience. During the training session, trainees were provided complete orientation of the Steel Industry and a number of queries were answered.
At the end of the course, the Chief Guest distributed course certificates among participants of the training program and it was decided that such seminars will also be conducted that other regional offices of the DGTR (Customs) at Lahore and Islamabad.
