Awareness Seminar for Customs Officers at Peshawar by the Directorate of IPR Enforcement (North), Islamabad

The Directorate of Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement (North), Islamabad, in collaboration with the right holder Call Marks Global, Karachi, recently organized a one-day awareness seminar in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The seminar aimed to shed light on the critical issue of counterfeit and infringing goods, their impact on the economy, and Pakistan's commitment to combatting this menace. The seminar was well attended by senior and junior officers of Customs Department posted in different enforcement formations in the KP.
Ms. Neelofer Shahzad, Director IPRE (North) gave a comprehensive presentation to educate participants about the dangers of counterfeit products, and how these illicit goods not only harm the economy but also endanger consumers' health and safety. Participants learned about the steps needed for enforcement of IPR Laws and challenges in the socio-economic landscape of Pakistan. 
The Directorate of IPRE (North), Islamabad, has consistently been at the forefront of combating Intellectual Property Rights violations. Since 2023, it has proactively handled more than 50 seizure and forfeiture cases, with a total value exceeding 6 billion PKR. The Directorate of IPRE (North), Islamabad is committed to ensure a counterfeit-free marketplace which will not only help achieve investors confidence but will also improve the country’s rating at international level in the field of IPR enforcement.
