In pursuit of the vision of Prime Minister to contain the menace of trade of counterfeit and illicit tobacco, Federal Board of Revenue’s Directorate General of Intelligence & Investigation – Inland Revenue has issued stringent directives to expedite the enforcement measures against the trade of counterfeit/Non-Duty Paid cigarettes.                                                    

A team of DG I&I-IR (Tobacco Squad), through its intelligence network intercepted a vehicle in the vicinity of Burhan Interchange on Motorway. During search of the vehicle, a huge cache of 500 packrites (5,000,000 sticks) of local brands of cigarettes, involving revenue amounting to Rs. 15.795 million including FED of Rs. 13.5 million and Sales Tax of Rs. 2.295 million were discovered. On inquiry, it was also found that FED and Sales Tax were not deposited in Government Exchequer against supplies of aforesaid cigarettes. Thus, the Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation-Inland Revenue, Islamabad seized the cigarettes and mandatory legal proceedings for recovery of due taxes have been initiated. 

Few weeks ago, the squad of the Directorate intercepted three vehicles carrying 900 packrites (9,000,000 sticks) of non-duty/taxes paid cigarettes being supplied on the same route.

وزیراعظم کے ویثرن  کی تکمیل میں فیڈرل بورڈ آف ریونیو کے ڈائیریکٹوریٹ جنرل انٹیلیجنس اینڈ انوسٹی گیشن آئی آر نے غیر قانونی اور نان ڈیوٹی پیڈ سگریٹ کے خلاف آپریشنز تیز کر دیئے ہیں۔ اس سلسلے میں ڈائیریکٹوریٹ جنرل کی  تمباکوسکواذ ٹیم نے اطلاع ملنے پربرہان انٹر چینج موٹر وے پر گاڑی کی تلاشی لی جس کے دوران لوکل برانڈز کے غیر قانونی سگریٹ  کے 500 پیکٹس برآمد کر لئے گئے۔ ان پیکٹس میں 50 لاکھ سگریٹس موجود تھے۔تحقیق کے بعد پتہ چلا کہ غیر قانونی سگریٹس کی سپلائی کے ذریعے 15.795 ملین روپے کی ٹیکس چوری کی کوشش کی گئی۔مزید انکوائری کے بعد معلوم ہو ا کہ سپلائی کئے جانے والے سگریٹس پر عائد 13.5 ملین روپے کی فیڈرل ایکسائز ڈیوٹی اور 2.295 ملین روپے کا سیلز ٹیکس جمع نہیں کرایا گیا۔ غیر قانونی سگریٹس کو ضبط کر کے قانونی کاروائی عمل میں لائی جا رہی ہے۔

کچھ ہفتوں پہلے ڈائیریکٹوریٹ کے تمباکو سکواڈ نے برہان انٹرچینج پر ہی کاروائی کرتے ہوئے غیر قانونی سگریٹس کی بڑی سپلائی کو ضبط کیا تھا۔اس آپریشن میں 90 لاکھ سگریٹس کے 900 پیکٹس قبضے میں لئے گئے تھے۔
