Inland Revenue Intelligence & Investigation intensifies Operations

In a drive against registered persons involved in massive evasion of sales tax, the Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation-Inland Revenue, Lahore raided the business premises of a shoe manufacturing unit in Lahore on 30^th September under Section 38 and 40 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990. The shoe manufacturing unit was engaged in manufacturing and making taxable supplies of footwear etc. while consuming huge amounts of raw materials and electricity but had deliberately filed "NILL" sales tax returns since July 2015 to avoid payment of due sales tax, hence was involved in tax fraud. During the search, certain record was impounded which is under scrutiny and further investigation in this regard is underway. The Directorate General Intelligence and Investigation-Inland Revenue intends to intensify such operations in order to detect tax fraud and stop huge revenue leakage being caused to the national exchequer.

سیلز ٹیکس کی بڑے پیمانے پر چوری میں ملوث رجسٹرڈ افراد کے خلاف مہم کے تحت ڈائریکٹوریٹ آف انٹیلی جنس اینڈ انوسٹی گیشن (انلینڈ ریونیو)، لاہور نے 30 ستمبر کو لاہور میں جوتے بنانے کے ایک کارخانے پر سیلز ٹیکس ایکٹ 1990 کے سیکشن 38 اور 40 کے تحت چھاپہ مارا۔ یہ کارخانہ جوتے وغیرہ بنانے اور سپلائی کا قابل ٹیکس کام کر رہا تھا جبکہ خام مال اور بجلی کا بھی بڑے پیمانے پر استعمال کر رہا تھا لیکن جولائی 2015 سے اس کے سیلز ٹیکس گوشوارے "صفر" آ رہے تھے جس سے ظاہر ہوتا تھا کہ وہ سیلز ٹیکس چوری کر رہا ہے اور ٹیکس فراڈ میں ملوث ہے۔ تلاشی کے دوران عملہ کو کچھ ریکارڈ بھی ملا جس کی چھان بین کی جا رہی ہے جبکہ اس سلسلے میں مزید تحقیقات جاری ہیں۔ ڈائریکٹوریٹ جنرل انٹیلی جنس اینڈ انوسٹی گیشن (انلینڈ ریونیو) کی جانب سے ٹیکس فراڈ اور ریونیو لیکج کے ذریعے قومی خزانے کو نقصان پہنچانے کا پتہ لگانے کے لئے اس نوعیت کی کارروائیاں تیز کی جا رہی ہیں۔
